| Arthur Westphal Bio Arty was born in Santiago, Chile. He immigrated to the US when he was seven years old, and settled in Port Washington, NY. His art training began in Junior High School and he went on to graduate from The Pratt Institute, Brooklyn, NY, where he majored in Photography and Film. Upon graduation he secured a position with a professional photo lab, as Assistant Production Manager, and was immediately immersed in the fast paced Commercial Art industry in NYC. The company specialized in photocomposed and retouched ads for all the major magazines, and ad agencies, all done using traditional film.After stints as a freelance photographer, he began his own retouching studio in 1982. For over 25 years Westphal Inc has been one of the leading retouching studios specializing in the cosmetics and beauty industry with clients such as Lancôme, L’Oreal, Estee Lauder and Unilever NA. With the advent of the digital age in the early 90’s Westphal opened their first photo studio, and became innovators in the combination of digital photography, image retouching and pre-press services. Westphal Inc. continues to provide high-end photography and retouching, with studios in NY and Colorado. Arty presently resides in Brooklyn, NY and New Jersey, with his wife Lara and dogs, Dylan and Astro. Arty continues to pursue his professional and personal creative interests in photography. |
